AKING BAYANG GINIGILIW About The Title
Magiliw is a Filipino term for loving and tender or affectionate. The root word giliw is a variation of Tagalog words mahal, irog and sinta which are all synonymous to "to love, loving". The phrase bayang magiliw is directly translated as a loving country, a loving people or a loving land and has an equal meaning with "bayang mapagmahal", "bayang mapagsinta" and "bayang umiirog" to our vernacular. It could similarly be interpreted to Pinoy terms like bayang ginigiliw, bayang minamahal, bayang sinisinta and bayang iniirog in which all connotes only one - "my beloved country". In the hope to ignite Philippine patriotism more to those who already had embraced endearment to his country, the title is derived from the first two words of the lyrics in our national anthem. This blogsite intends to capture the substance and character of being a true-blooded Pinoy in the most valid sense of the word.
